Bonhams Auction Result – Asian Art

On 13th July 2016, another auction for Asian Art at Bonhams Edinburgh sells over 70% of the lots, including Chinese and Japanese paintings, containers, robes, and other exceptional rare pieces of art.

The top lot was an ancient bronze incense burner from the 18th century. Casting with six-character Xuande mark to base, the burner is a bombé form with a stepped foot below, with ruyi and scroll handle. The lot was sold at a remarkable HK$168,794, climbing to the highest price of the auction and tenfold of its estimate at HK$10,000 – 16,000.

Other notable results include a silky horizontal scroll, which is sold for HK$103,873, multiplying its estimate (HK$3100 – 5200); and a silver and shibayama jardinière selling in the room at an outstanding HK$97381, with an original estimate of HK$42000 – 62000.
