The Dutch Delft Blue Painting Workshop

“The Dutch Delft Painting Workshop” is a community outreach programme to primary and secondary schools by Asia Art Hong Kong for Dutch Days In Hong Kong festival. This year’s community outreach programme is sponsored by FrieslandCampina (Hong Kong) Ltd. and we put emphasis on our “Shared Heritage” between China and The Netherlands. One of the topics we share is about how overseas trading, dating back to 1498 of Blue & White export porcelain from China to Europe, has influenced the Dutch Delftware industry in the Netherlands. Dutch Delftware is now a celebrated art form and national pride of the Netherlands.

This workshop from the Shared Heritage Series explores the history of Delftware and invites attendees to design Delftware tiles. The workshop is conducted by Mr Francis Li, who will share the history of Blue & White porcelain in 20+ primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong. All participants will receive a certificate issued by The Netherlands Consulate General in Hong Kong and Macao, Asia Art Hong Kong and FrieslandCampina (Hong Kong) Ltd. Attendees can submit their tiles to enter our upcoming tile design competition. Submitted tiles will be displayed at an exhibition in December of 2021.
