First Niccolo Hotel in the city: The Murray, Hong Kong

Opened on 15 January, The Murray, Hong Kong is the city’s newest landmark hotel as well as the latest addition to the luxury contemporary chic collection by Wharf Hotels. It is located on Cotton Tree Drive in Central, the heart of Hong Kong.

As a preservation project designed by the renowned architecture firm Foster + Partners, The Murray was converted from the former Murray Building, a historic landmark under the “Conserving Central” initiative and once the tallest government building in the city. Built in 1969 by British architect Ron Phillips, the property is a pioneer of sustainable and energy-efficient architecture with its recessed windows, angled to prevent entry of direct sunlight and thus enhance temperature control.

The Murray features 336 sophisticated rooms and suites across 25 storeys, with over 75 percent of rooms sized at 50 square metres or larger, generous for hotel rooms in Hong Kong. Interiors are adorned with premium textiles such as natural fabrics, leather, and marble. Natural light from at least two iconic square windows bathe each room and offer views over the city or Hong Kong Park.

Good appetites can be satisfied at the five restaurants and bars led by a world-class culinary and mixology team, including a modern European restaurant The Tai Pan, the Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant Guo Fu Lou, a rooftop bar and restaurant Popinjays, the Garden Lounge and the Murray Lane bar.

For the well-being of guests, the hotel provides a 24-hour gymnasium, an indoor lap pool and a spa offering a range of treatments and beauty rituals. Special dietary needs can also be catered to by the in-house nutritionist.

The hotel has in total more than 1,900 square metres of event spaces for luxury, fashion, art, wedding and corporate occasions, both indoor and outdoor. One of the hotel's more unique venues is The Arches. Previously the carpark ramp which ran along the inner perimeter of the historic building, the space is now re-envisioned as a stunning semi-outdoor venue suited to runway shows, installations, car events and launches.

The hotel is now at a soft-opening stage and offers room packages starting at HKD 4,000

a night. Find out more and book your stay at The Murray.
