Christie's Hong Kong Asian 20th Century & Contemporary Sales Totalled HK$600m (US$87m)

On November 26 and 27, Christie's Hong Kong has held three auctions for Asian 20th Century & Contemporary Art and one special evening sale The Pioneers, featuring works by Chu Teh-Chun, Lin Fengmian, Sanyu (Chang Yu), Wu Guanzhong, Yoshitomo Nara and other some of the most iconic asian artists in the market. The four sales altogether totalled HK$ 677,668,750 (US$ 87,753,125), with 21 artists' records achieved and over one-third of the lots exceeding high estimates.

The top lots of Christie's Hong Kong Asian 20th Century & Contemporary Art auctions in Fall 2016 season are:

SOLD: Asian Contemporary Art (Day Sale) on November 27, 2016: 78% sold by lot, HKD 55,523,750 (USD 7,189,918) totalled.

The Christie's Hong Kong Asian 20th Century & Contemporary Art auction series also saw 21 artists' records achieved, including works by Chu Teh-Chun, Lin Fengmian, Atsuko Tanaka, Anita Magsaysay-Ho, Jolene Lai, Na Wei, Shinji Ogawa, Oh Se-Yeol, Fung Yat Fung, Zhou Mingde, Lugas Syllabus, Shinro Ohtake, Abas Alibasyah, Umi Dachlan, Fan Chang Tien, Hsu Tung-Lung, Hwang Yong-Yop, Nguyen Sang, Nguyen Nam Son, Ushio Shinohara and Arie Smit.

"The auction series received some enthusiastic bids in the room, on the phone and online, setting world records for some the most iconic artists such as Chu Teh-Chun, Lin Fengmian, Sanyu, Atsuko Tanaka and Anita Magsaysay-Ho, " commented Eric Chang, Deputy Chairman, International Director of Asian 20th Century and Contemporary Art at Christie's Hong Kong.
